The Fränkische Schweiz is the largest karst area in Bavaria beside the alps. Most of the caves are developed in dolomite - and therfore small and often narrow. But: one cane find some nice caves with beautiful formations. In the south part, the exploration of the Mühlbachquellhöhle led to the exploration of one of Germanys largest and unique caves - an underground river. Above the surface, the "Fränkische" is a very nice countryside - you can go hiking, climbing and: drinking beer! Its the worlds highest density of breweries you can find here! And huge plates of tarditional bavarian plain fare - meat, sausages....and again a lot of beer.
